LA TOUR D'ARGENT
Located in the heart of the city center, facing the Collegiate Church, the Tour d’Argent is an iconic vestige
of the city's medieval fortifications. Built during the Middle Ages,
it once served as a defense and watchtower, protecting access to the city walls.
Today, it stands as a majestic witness to local history,surrounded
by canals and the city's peaceful atmosphere. Its stone silhouette,
steeped in centuries of history, offers a unique charm and serves as a reminder ofL’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue's rich past.
LA CHAPELLE DE LA CHARITÉ
The Chapelle de la Charité, built in the 17th century by the Brotherhood
of White Penitents, is one of the heritage gems of L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue.
Behind its sober facade lies a richly decorated interior,
featuring superb Baroque ornamentation, carved woodwork, and religious artworks.
Formerly a place of reflection and solidarity dedicated to charitable works,
the chapel today bears witness to the city's spiritual and artistic vitality.
It remains an essential cultural and historical site for both
visitors and residents.
LE GRENIER PUBLIC
Dating back to the 18th century, le Grenier Public once played an essentiel
role in the economic lif of L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue. It was used to store and manage
grain reserves, a vital resource for the population, especially during periods of
shortage. Its massive and functional architecture serves as a reminder
of the building's importance in the town's organization.
Now restored and enhanced, the Public Granary remains a remarkable witness
to the city's agricultural and commercial past, offering a precious insight
into its history and heritage.
LA COLLÉGIALE NOTRE DAME DES ANGES
TheNotre-Dame des Anges collegiate church, founded in the 13th century and entirely
rebuilt in the 17th th century in a Provençal Baroque style, is one of the major monuments
of L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue. Its interior, richly decorated with altarpieces,
gilding, and sculptures, bears witness to the city's prosperity during that era.
Dominated by a monumental choir and more than two hundred figures of angels,
the collegiate church embodies the religious and artistic history of the city.
Classified as a Historical Monument in 1911, it remains a precious symbol
of L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue's heritage.
LA CHAPELLE DES PÉNITENTS BLEUS
The Chapelle des Pénitents Bleus is an 18th-century religious building,th constructed
between 1766 and 1769 for the Brotherhood of Blue Penitents.
Located in the heart of L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, it is representative of Comtadine architecture
with its sober facade and plaster interior decor.
Desecrated in the 20thth century, it now belongs to the municipality and
has been listed as a Historical Monument since 2022.
